Choosing the Perfect Yoga Mat
When you’re beginning your yoga practice, 9 times out of 10 you don’t already have a yoga mat laying around the house… or at least I didn’t. I wandered on over to TJ Maxx and picked up a $12 mat and went from there. I had no clue that there was a whole world of yoga mats to choose from. But that was back in 2013. Since then yoga has definitely made an impact in our everyday lives and it’s pretty much everywhere now with the most exotic mats to match. It can be hard to filter through the noise and find out which mats are worth the money, and will actually improve and not hurt your practice (all mats are not created equal and all mats are not yoga mats - I’ll save this for another post).
If you’re new to the practice, you might be a bit overwhelmed and insecure about which yoga mat you’re carrying into class. Reviews.com sent me this article on the best yoga mats on the market, which was perfect timing because I surely need a new mat (I actually still use a cheap $12 mat). Soooo, yes, I am ready to dive into, or shall I say downward dog into the world of “traveling mats, hot yoga mats, towel mats”, you name it.
It’s time for a serious upgrade, I’m sure for you, and me both; and with the holidays being right around the corner, there’s just enough time for you to sliiiide your pick off of this list over to your fam for something special under the tree this year.
By the way - I am writing this post because I just sent out a newsletter to my darling wellness omies, and I asked them what is more content they wanna see from me. Well, yoga content, specifically for beginners was something you guys asked for, so I’m giving you just that. Have more suggestions? Sign up for my newsletter. I’ll be asking again, and I honestly want your feedback! And yes, this means that a new yoga playlist is on the way.
